a virtual continent based on the real world, as created by David Byrne while working with the Luaka Bop label. A fictional culture in which the ethos and attitudes of Europe are overlaid with African sensibilities.

Zap Mama's "Adventures in Afropea" album is heavily inspired by African and European vocal melodies.

Afropean 

Term to describe the trans-cultural influences of (..usually...) mixed race individuals, or members of the black diaspora living in Europe. First coined by Talking Heads singer David Byrne, to describe the music of Belgo-Congolese group 'Zap Mama'. Later popularized by Afro-French sister duo Les Nubians.

Person who relates both to Africa and Europe. Usually a person of African descent who lives in Europe and has European tastes and tendencies. Also children of both African and European parentage.

afropessimism 

The world-wide, systematic oppression of all people's of African origin, due to Caucasians running all major governments in the world and creating laws that only promote their ideals while simultaneously oppressing the all cultural and social aspects of black life, eventually leading to the conclusion that black people would be better off physically dead than socially dead, like they currently are.

An example of afropessimism would be that this definition won't be accepted due to the oppressive nature of the white man
