Opposition Attrition

An open-assembly voting strategy in which an item guaranteed to place new tax or other burdens on the town's hardest workers is brought back for a final vote after these riffraff have left to rest up, if not show up, for their next shifts.
Guess what, Tony... that new water works plant passed after we left. We didn't have enough Nays to stop it before we had to leave, and then "opposition attrition" kicked in, leaving the usuals who coulda stayed till noon enough Ayes to ram it through.

Opposition Paradox

"(The) Opposition Paradox" is a term credited to the philosopher C.M. Nutter for describing when people are unwilling to try new things that others recommend without a logical reason other than to simply provide opposition to the idea of trying something new.
Donna recommended her and Steve go to Chinese food for dinner. Steve opposed the idea even though he never tried Chinese food. Donna pushed and eventually Steve conceded and they had Chinese food for dinner. After trying the food Steve fell in love with Chinese food wonder why he opposed it and was never willing to try before. Therefore being a victim of the Opposition Paradox.

Opposition Bias

A broad bias toward opposing any information, argument, or perspective that doesn't align with one's existing commitments. Opposition Bias isn't about specific claims; it's about team identity. If it's "them" saying it, oppose it. If it's "us," support it. The content doesn't matter; the source determines the response. It's the bias of tribalism, of identity over inquiry.
"He'd agree with a policy when his side proposed it and oppose it when the other side did—same policy, different response. Opposition Bias: not about what's said, but who says it. The opposition is the point; content is irrelevant."

FaceTune opposition

"r" opposites

Pairs of words that have a meaning which is "one-hundred-eighty degrees" different from each other when the letter "r" is added, such as "fiend" and "friend", "gem" and "germ", etc.
Perhaps the "r" opposites might have had a role to play in the infamous "cell phone static" call that got the totally-honorable-and-conscientious Enron officials in trouble --- you will notice that the moral-minded, "Ship the documents to the Feds" has no "r" letters in it, whereas the supposedly-uttered criminal statement, "Rip the documents to shreds" does indeed contain that letter a couple times, and has the exact opposite meaning.
