Lay on the floor with dogs

A reference made to positioning yourself around an unsavory character or seedy person will certainly lead you down a harmful and descructive path.
If my Daddy knew how much I hung out with ole' Ralph, he'd have certainly said, "Son, if you continue to lay on the floor with dogs, you're gonna get fleas and ticks!"

Lay on the floor with dogs

Reference made to positioning one's self around an unsavory or seedy character that may eventually lead to harm.
If my Daddy knew that I hung out with Ralph he would have surely told me, "Son, if you continue to lay on the floor with dogs, you're gonna get fleas. It's just a matter of time!"

Swear on the dog's life

A phrase used to easily coerce a confession from a guilty child.
"Timmy, did you break the vase?"
"No."
"Do you swear on the dog's life?"
"I broke the vase."

thicker than hair on a dog's back

Dogs have so much hair that they have to shed it a couple of times a year.
Traffic in Atlanta is thicker than hair on a dog's back during rush hour.

It literally means ¨complete truth¨ If someone is telling a story and you think they may be bending the truth and adding white lies or even outright lies, you ask them...¨OnDogs?¨ If they are able to answer back...¨Yes, OnDogs¨ then you can be assured they are telling the truth. If they cannot respond with that, then you know they are lying. It is an honor thing. It is a way to tell if you can really trust what someone is saying is completely true. It works great - especially for teenagers!!
¨Hey Tim, I brought home a dozen donuts." Tim responds ¨OnDogs?¨ Michael replies ¨OnDogs¨

Another example: This is the best chicken pot pie I have ever eaten. ¨OnDogs?¨ Yeah ¨OnDogs¨
