transession

When the government knows they are about to undergo a recession, but force the dictionaries and search engines to change the definition of a recession so they can say they're not in a recession.
Person 1: Hey man, have you started stocking up on toilet paper? I think we're starting to see a recession happen.

Person 2: Oh you fascist, racist, trumpist, radical white supremacist! Didn't you listen to Lord Biden? He said that two consecutive negative GDP quarters doesn't mean a recession anymore. So a recession is impossible. Check your privilege.

Person 1: Sounds to me like it's a Transession.
Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
