Put your thumb down 

"Put your thumb down" is a phrase that is used when someone try's to throw up the horns (a gesture where you pull in you middle, ring and thumb into your palm. Often used by fans of the metal genre. )but leave the thumb extended.

Often said to newer metalheads or posers. (Keep in mind if you make the mistake as a new metalhead it does not make you a poser.)

Metalhead: "DruidLord is brutal"
New Metalhead: "Fuck yeah it is" *throws horns with thumb*
Metalhead: "Put your thumb down!"
New Metalhead: "shit sorry"

A saying, usually said at the end of a movie or performance, that basically means that you liked it a little bit, but it wasn't perfect.

A contributor or lurker who, out of envy, spite or misplaced rectitude, combs through another contributor's list of words in order to deliberately give each one a "Down" thumb without considering any potential usefulness such words might have.
