An individual who closely inhabits the gray area between being a bro (i.e. Anheuser-Busch and Coors loyalists) and being a metro (i.e. men who watch Sex In The City). He is often spotted in the wild with semi-fashionable clothing from H&M or Urban Outfitters, but lacks more pseudo style and grace (and superfluousness) of the scenester sect.

Of course that alternabro ended up with the asian Dashboard girl, who could deny his blazer and t-shirt combo?

Painstakingly bohemian posh young person who tries too hard to look different, normally via Daddy's credit card.

The fear of people named Alterna and/or the word Alterna

Alternaphobia is a type of phobia that originated from the 'True Godverse Wiki', the users of the wiki had a fear of their article being deleted by an admin named Alterna due to their page being total bullshit.

The first person to ever have this phobia is 'H5_67', the official CEO of the phobia being Esalt.

Person 1: 'I hope my article doesn't get deleted by alterna'
Person 2: 'Oh, so you have Alternaphobia too huh?'

alternator 

A generator that transforms mechanical energy into electrical energy, specifically AC Power (alternating current). These are usually found in automobiles. They make it go by charging the battery and maintaining an electrical current to one or more of the following items: a) spark plugs, b) air conditioning, c) stereo, d) power windows, e) various pumping mechanisms... etc.

The alternator in my car is broken. My battery has no juice even right after I shut off the car.

Alternarock

The coolest way to say Alternative Rock, which, since Fall Out Boy, has been more pop-rock than anything.

Interviewer: So what kind of music do you guys play?
Pete: We tend to stick to alternarock since we don't have a big indie crowd.
Interviewer: I guess not with songs like "Sugar, We're going Down". Are you sure you're not just a pop/rock band?
Pete: No, we're definitely alternarock. Definitely.
