I've tried everything I could think of and couldn't find the issue, so I went and troubleshat in the toilet for a while and the answer just came to me

Troubleshat

A knee-jerk reaction in the troubleshooting process that actually causes more damage than the initial problem it was designed to overcome.
I can't believe that just happened! I called into to tech support and they had me drop my firewall because I couldn't obtain an IP address. What a troubleshat, now I've got viruses on my machine and can only boot to safe mode, much less connect to the internet!

When you troubleshoot a seemingly simple issue and end up making it worse, requiring extensive cleanup.

1. Pretending to diagnose a computer problem while actually looking the solution up on a web search engine such as Google 2. Making up a solution to an computer problem to save the user embarrassment.
1. Gary wasn't sure why Allen's driver wasn't installing, so he started troubleshitting until Google provided the answer for him.

2. Joanne simply hadn't plugged in her monitor, so Bill troubleshitted a "monitor driver conflict" so she wouldn't be embarrassed.
