Garret is an actual word with the meaning: dark,
depressing attic.
It's also a given name mostly to males whose mothers or fathers thought it would be cute to
misspell by
leaving off the extra "t" at the end - as in "Garrett".
"Hey Molly, you run this box up to the garret?"
"Carolyn, you shouldn't have named
your son 'Garret', now all the kids will nickname him 'attic'!"
Although I've only known one person with the given name "Garret", he's quite terrific. If you find yourself
fortunate enough to meet a Garret, do so gently and with an open heart. He will
rock your world.
