498
A TfL London bus service that runs from Romford, Queen's Hospital to Brentwood Sainsbury's in Essex via Romford Station, Gidea Park, Gallows Corner, Harold Park and Brook Street. The route operates daily with a 20 minute frequency and was introduced on December 26 2005 to partially replace route 351 between Romford and Brentwood which was withdrawn Mondays-Saturdays, but it wasn't until June 2007 that the 498 gained a Sunday service so the 351 continued to run from Romford Station to Chelmsford on Sundays. On April 27 2013, route 498 was extended to Romford, Queen's Hospital. One of twelve London bus routes that also goes into Essex and serves one of the most easternest part of the London bus network as a normal service (although school route 608 continues to Shenfield).
375
A TfL London bus service that runs from Romford Station to Passingford Bridge in Essex (a roundabout in the middle of nowhere between Epping/Abridge/Ongar and Stapleford Abbots) via North Romford, Collier Row, Chase Cross, Havering-Atte-Bower, Stapleford Abbots and Bournebridge. The route operates Monday-Saturday at a 90 minute frequency and was introduced on July 7 2008 as the partial replacement for the old 500 which ran from Romford Station to Harlow in Essex, with an extension to Stansted Airport from 1992 to 1999. The 500 was cut between Romford and Ongar on July 6 2008 after it was diverted via Ongar in April 2007 due to low passenger numbers and if the 375 was not introduced, the towns of Havering-Atte-Bower, Stapleford Abbots and Bournebridge (the latter two being in Essex) would be left without any bus service at all and so TfL stepped in to provide a service. Originally, the plan was that the 375 would terminate exactly at the London border at the very end of Havering-Atte-Bower at Home Farm but that turned out to not be feasible as the landowner TfL was going to buy the land from to make a roundabout there passed away and the next safest turnaround point after Home Farm just so happens to be a roundabout in the middle of nowhere within Essex (Passingford Bridge). One of twelve London bus routes that also goes into Essex and serve the most north-easternest part of the London bus network.
372
A TfL London bus route that runs between Hornchurch, Town Centre and Lakeside Shopping Centre via Abbs Cross, Elm Park, South Hornchurch, Rainham, Wennington, Aveley and West Thurrock. Introduced on November 9th 2002, it partially replaced route 324 which was a commercial route operating between Hornchurch and Bluewater operated by Arriva for the last two years of its existance. The route is one of only two London bus services to run into Thurrock, Essex (the other being route 370 which runs from Romford to Lakeside via Upminster, there was also the 347 which ran from Romford to Ockendon Station via Harold Wood and Cranham but that was withdrawn in January 2025) and one of twelve London bus routes to enter Essex. The route was proposed to be rerouted via residental streets in Hornchurch in 2008 but residents complained so it never happened, but the route continues to operate at a 20-minute to half hour frequency every day of the week between London and Lakeside.
370
A London bus service that runs between Romford and Lakeside via Gidea Park, Emerson Park, Hornchurch, Upminster Bridge, Upminster, Corbets Tey, North Ockendon, South Ockendon and North Stifford. The route is one of only two remaining routes that runs from London to Lakeside, the other being Route 372 which runs from Hornchurch to Lakeside using a slightly different route via Elm Park, Rainham, Wennington and Aveley. Also, one of only five remaining Transport for London routes that runs to Essex, the four others are: 347, 372, 498, 608
