Farewell golden

Share definition
Farewell golden (abbreviated 'fwg') is a golden strawberry in Celeste. It is without a doubt the HARDEST mechanical challenge Celeste has to offer, being part of the coveted total 202 berry count. Few people have gotten it and there is an 'elite' list of those who have achieved such peak. Celeste base game difficulty goes from Beginner to Intermediate to low Advanced. Many people have reached high Expert and mid Grandmaster without attaining 202 berries. So, it's much, MUCH harder than you think, with almost perfect gameplay demanded for around 50 rooms, and another 50 that aren't necessarily easy either.

Most climbing mishaps occur due to exhaustion. Remember to take regular breaks!
"...so many people on youtube be getting farewell golden with 120 hours, i don't know how to feel considering my 150 hours"

Golden strawberry

Share definition
In celeste, a golden strawberry is present at the start of each level after progressing far enough. real condition removed to avoid spoilers, if you're desperate then ask Google ig.
There are at least 24 easy-ish ones which you could do if you are dedicated enough. Out of these, 3 stand out.
One requires a walkthrough. (Or you can play the game too much)
and one more, is fwg - short for farewell golden.

A Cautionary note about golden strawberries

I do not believe that it is statistically possible to get every golden strawberry without using assist mode, or cheating in some way. I kinda think that Maddy Thorson was trolling us by putting these strawberries in the game, and having no way to tell if someone is using assist mode just by looking at the screen footage. I think she knows full well that it's impossible, and the whole thing is little more than a social experiment to see how many people will cheat and then try to pass their work off as legitimate. There is no achievement or reward for getting these strawberries. You don't unlock a special ending where Theo chips a tooth on the gold strawberries in your pie. You do get a stamp of a gold strawberry on your save file if you succeed in getting all 25 gold strawberries. But PC players have already learned to hack their save slot to manipulate these stamps - including removing the assist stamp.

Dream super/hyper

Share definition
In Celeste, a dream super/hyper is a tech that abuses coyote frames you get. In Celeste, coyote frames let you jump basically whenever you get them, no matter what. Usually, this means walking off a ledge but getting that *tiny bit* of extra leniency.

However, once coming out of dream blocks, you get coyote frames as well. They are usually used for dream jumps but can be (ab)used to initiate a hyper. So, dream hyper!

Similar for dream supers (which are the same thing but uncrouched)
dryper = dream hyper
"...yeah the dryper is hard but I count that as part of tetris since the setup is so dependent on it."
They do have a few pitfalls though. I guess I'll say them here: If you demodash into the dream block, you'll always perform a dream super instead of a dream hyper. When dream hypering, a horizontal demo to do the hyper is always better than a down-diagonal dash, as it gives extra coyote frames. You can also dream dash in one direction and dream super/hyper in the opposite direction.

In Celeste (Not SSMB), a wavedash is a down-diagonal dash into the ground followed by a jump. If performed correctly, it should give you 325 pixels/second horizontal speed and 52.5 px/sec vertical speed. As one of the simplest speedtechs in Celeste, mastering it is essential to getting started in many modded maps, and especially Farewell. Some variants include hyperdashing, superdashing (not to be confused with the Superdash 'Variant'), demohypers. They can also be reversed and extended
"Looks like a reverse wavedash into bumper boost to me!"
"reverse wavedash>ultra>reverse auto super>reverse wavedash while inside the circle>right down diagonal while inside the lower circle"

The Solar Purgatory

Share definition
The Solar Purgatory (abbreviated 'Sumber') is a fanmade combination of the 2 mini-maps Solar Express (Solex) and Pinball Purgatory (Pumber) from the (game)Celeste Strawberry Jam mod. It combines mechanics from the Solar Express (dream blocks, Theo) and Pinball Purgatory (bumpers, moonboosts). It's an extremely hard map with gameplay orders of magnitude harder than anything in the base game (including goldens, and fwg)
"Sumber's an awesome map and I have like double the respect for anyone who goes out of their way to beat it"
"I should lock myself in a room with 500 pizzas and only come out when I can beat the solar purgatory"
