Shut in season

The time period from late October to late March where it becomes mostly socially acceptable to become a total shut in and do nothing due to the shittiness of the weather outside.

As the beginning of April approaches, thousands of awkward teenagers and young adults groan in despair as shut in season ends and they no longer have an excuse to binge watch shows on Netflix and spend hours on urban dictionary.

tumblr laugh

Half smiling and blowing air sharply out of the nose, usually brought on by a semi-funny yet very dumb text post on the microblogging website tumblr, or a situation that's ironically funny.

Person 1: *picks up donut* Look, I'm like one of the cops!

Two police officers look over at Person 1

Person 2: *blows air out of nose with a half smile*

Person 1: Oh stop tumblr laughing at me, will ya?

fiddle

Someone who is easily tricked or manipulated (or rather, played) by others. Usually too nice for their own good. Derived from the phrase "playing someone like a fiddle"

That guy is such a fiddle, next thing you know everyone will be taking advantage of him.

social justice

The (typically online) practice of preaching for equality for people of all religions, races, genders, and sexual orientations. When done right, this can be a fantastic thing. Unfortunately, social justice tends to be done wrong, giving things like the gender equality movement and the gay rights movement a bad name.

Good social justice: Equality for everyone regardless of your background!

A type of flirting done via texts or tinder mainly by white boys in high school/college, hence the name. Characteristics include:

-Initiating "the question game"/20 questions

-Winking emojis

-"What would you do if I was there with you?"

-Asking for nudes

-Instant change of attitude when faced with rejection

Girl 1: So he wanted to play 20 questions with me and the first thing he asked was if I was a virgin, then he wanted to see my tits, then when I said no he turned around and called ME a whore! Does he honestly think anyone would respond well to that???

Making posts on social media that either

1. Give off a vague feeling of sadness or other emotional issues to prompt others into asking what's wrong and generally shower said poster with attention

2. Talk smack about someone without mentioning them

Bates

Named for Norman Bates, the mentally unstable antagonist of the film Psycho, a Bates is a person who never threatens anyone's life directly, but very obviously gives off the "I'm going to kill you in your sleep and roll around in your blood giggling like a schoolgirl" vibe. A Bates is almost always completely oblivious to the fact that they're a Bates. Also usually very poor at reading hints to leave others alone.

Janet: You know that kid John? He's a total Bates.

Brad: You can say that again, he keeps looking at me like he wants to cut out my liver and eat it raw.
