Rainbow

a widely recognised symbol of the glbtq community, usually in flag form, inteded to represent the diversity found among glbtq people.

the rainbow flag consitsts of six horizontal stripes of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. is used to denote gay pride or gay-friendliness.

rick has a rainbow bumper sticker on his car.

asexual

a person who is not interested in or does not desire sexual activity, either within or outside of a relationship. asexuality is not the same as celibacy, which is the willful decision to not act on sexual feelings. asexuals, while not physically sexual-type folks, are none the less quite capable of loving, affectionate, romantic ties to others.

while many women involved in so-called "boston marriages" had asexual relationships, their partnerships have none-the-less been claimed by some as part of lesbian history.

mourn

to actively express and work through one's grief through emotional and/or social outlets or cues.

forms of mourning include donning specific clothing, cutting one's hair, weeping, and attending religious services.

stereo-dyke

a lesbian who's interests, appearence and personality are generally congruent with every lesbian cliche/joke ever heard, positive or otherwise. tends to set off everyone and their grandmother's gaydar within a two mile radius. used as an insult.

man, shelly's such a stereo-dyke... she's had the same crew-cut for fifteen years, practically lives in those birkenstocks, coaches the women's softball team, and won't listen to anything that's not ani or the indigo girls.

from "bisexual dyke". generally, a lesbian or dyke-identified woman who acknowledges a sexual or emotional affection for men. also known as a "bi-dyke".

womyn

the feminist/lesbian spelling of "woman". also has political implications. not all feminists/lesbians use or even like this term, but it's been claimed as a subtle empowerment thing by both groups in general.
