(v) In poker, to return your cards to the dealer without showing the other players. Differs from fold because folded cards cannot be shown during play (forced muck). Muck implies choice.

He mucked his cards so I couldn't see if he was bluffing or chasing.

bob barker

Texas hold'em poker hole cards: King of spades and 9 of spades. Pun for "spayed K-9" from the traditional Price Is Right show ending reminder to spay or neuter your pet.

check-raise

(v) In poker, if you have a great hand but worry that if you bet, nobody will call -- you check through and wait for someone to assume you missed too. When they bet to scare you off, you raise them, resulting in a larger pot.

Check-raising only works if you're first to act and you're the only person who made a hand.

chase

In poker, to continue playing a hand that will not win as-is, but needs one or two specific cards to make it a winner. Odds are that you will not catch the card you need and loose betting respect at the table.

I had three hearts, so I chased the flush to the river and missed.

I call your all-in, you chaser.

fair play

Brittish slang for correct or okay. Phrase taken from sports, where an action (play) is judged whether or not it qualifies or is within the rules.

"You must be pissed, mate."
"I've had a few, fair play."

the suits

Slightly negative reference for the executives or management of a company, because they are paid better and dress more formally than the employees.

"I work twice as hard as the suits and get paid half as much."

sixth sense

This movie's ending was shocking to so many viewers it became the prime example for people who prefer to not spoil the ending of a movie or book by knowing how it ends. Most people refer to this movie in terms of whether they knew the ending or not.

"Harry Potter 6 is the next Sixth Sense."

"La la la la ... I don't want to know the ending! My bitch-ass brother always Sixth-Senses me and I've been avoiding him until Sunday."

"Dude, don't pull a Sixth Sense on me -- I don't want any spoilers."
