Pt

Derived from Latin "Panimus Talidor" with both Greek and Roman historical connotations, Pt translates to 'apotheosis,' or in simpler terms: A god among men. Often suffixed with the Latin word for power "Powah," as an emphasis.
Dear lord? Did you see that boy? He is a PT! Wait up, I'm going to get his number.

bean ball

A ball that hits the batter. Batter automatically gets to take first base. If bases are loaded, he gets an RBI (although in this case it's more a run beaned in then batted in ;) )
OUCH, again with the bean ball? Come on umpire, eject this maniac!

focus stealing

A very annoying feature in windows where an application foribly brings itself to the front (aka steals the focus). Can also be when you're filling out a form on a website and what part of it you've selected to enter text into suddenly changes.

A common side effect of this is when you're typing a message to someone in a messenger program and another contact messages you. In some programs, it steals the focus and half of what you were typing to the first person appears in the second persons window.

Another common side effect is when you're in a game and (as an example) you're anti virus program suddenly pops up a message saying you need to update your definitions. It's also known to happen with other programs that use pop up messages to inform you of updates.

It's also known to happen when you're surfing a page and a pop-up advertisment brings itself to the front, sometimes causing someone to accidently click on it instead of on the page they intended.

Finally, another form of focus stealing can be when you're filling out a webform and (for example) are filling out your name and suddenly the cursor moves to the e-mail field without any input from you.
A gamer is gaming when suddenly the screen goes black and he find himself on the desktop looking at a 'update this software please' pop-up.

part time job

A job whose hours are generally anything up to (and including) 24 hours (or 28 hours depending on the company) per week. Usually intended as a supliment to the full time staff.

Depending on the company, part time jobs may or may not have guarenteed hours (in other words some weeks you'll be lucky to get one 8 hour shift while others you might get the full 24 (or 28) hours or anything in between.

Part time jobs usually also don't have guarenteed shifts; meaning one shift you might work evenings, another days, another afternoons and maybe even nights in some cases.

The length of the shifts is also variable, could be full 8 hour days but could also only be 4-5 hour days; so if you get 24 hours, it may not be three eight-hour shifts and could be four six-hour shifts or maybe even six four hour.

The shifts, hours worked etc vary wildey from company to company.

In some companies (espcially ones with high turnover) they'll start people on as part time staff as a sort of test to see if the job is right for them. If they 'last' for a certain amount of time, they'll probbaly be asked to go full time.
Guy #1: Man, last week I got a full 24 hours and worked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; this week I'm only working Monday and Tuesday 9-1, what's up with that?

Guy# 1: What can say? It's a part time job; hours and shifts arn't guarenteed.

Craney

A name for a student who is enrolled in the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. This term applies to the nerdiest of all music nerds: those students who can not make conversation without including a cheesey music joke or discussion of the latest piece they are working on.
Wow, you are such a craney!
