Chant

An expression that means news, local gossip, the facts, the moods, or anything else about what's happening. "What's the chant?" is a way of asking for the latest information a basher's heard.

Bleed

An expression of distaste or disgust. Additionally, a "bleeder" is a reference to anyone the speaker dislikes.

"They've put me on latrine duty? That bleeds!"

Belly of the beast

Dungeon or prison.

"Throw all the knights of the post, cross-traders, and barmies into the belly of the beast, and New York will be emptier than an Instagram model's head."

Bubber

A drunk, especially one who's fallen on hard times. Bubbers get little sympathy from most bloods.

"That bubber sleeps in the alley now, his drinking has ruined his life."

Gleaming pip

A worthless small-time thief or a pickpocket. It's considered an insult to both honest cutters and thieves who see themselves as a cut above the rest.

"Benny the Teen used to be a top shelf bandit, but now he's just a gleaming pip on a horse."

A cell, prison, or anything that compares to one.

He's in big birdcage now, he's doing 20 to life in a federal penitentiary.

Emptying

The process of losing one's belief and finding nothing, thus accepting the nihilist viewpoint. Often nihilists claim emptying is the path to enlightenment. Alternatively, emptying can include losing a dearly held belief, like losing faith in a power, a lover, a friend, or a family member.

"Poor sod; when he caught Tyria with Jackorn it completely emptied him. His whole heart is emptying..."
