Social Democracy

A Social Democracy is essentially Capitalism with strong social programs to protect the marginalized and disabled.

This is not the same thing as Socialism, or Democratic Socialism.
If you are a Social Democrat, then you support a Social Democracy.

Ref slide

Ref slide (noun):
A movement used by referees to quickly position themselves for a better view of the action, typically involving a slide on the feet, knees, or body. Common in MMA and amateur wrestling for practical visibility, and often exaggerated in pro wrestling for dramatic effect. The slide’s form can vary widely, but its purpose is consistent: to stay close and focused on the fight.

Ref slide

When a referee quickly slides into position, usually on their feet, knees, or stomach, to get a close view of the action.

It’s seen in combat sports like MMA and amateur wrestling but can happen in many sports. In pro wrestling, especially WWE, it’s often exaggerated for dramatic or comedic effect. The move itself is genuine, sometimes incidental, and happens across different sports. In short, a ref slide is when any referee slides in to watch action during their duties.

Medicare For All

A single payer healthcare bill proposed in the United States that works by expanding the already existing Medicare program to cover all citizens.

Medicare For All funds healthcare through taxes, rather than paying premiums and deductibles to profit-driven insurance companies.

This is important legislation because the United States is the only developed nation that doesn’t have universal care for all of its citizens.
If we had Medicare for All, then you’d never have to worry about out of pocket healthcare expenses again.

Postal Banking

Many countries currently offer banking with their local post offices.

This was already a thing in the United States from 1911 to 1967 when the US Post Office offered some basic banking and lending services.

Currently the US Post Office can only cash Treasury checks and issue money orders, but if Postal Banking returns, it would be a non profit banking option that provides a variety of banking and lending services.
If interest rates get capped at the proposed 15%, won’t banks just refuse to lend to new/high risk clients?

Probably, but Postal Banking is non profit and as such can offer low-cost low-dollar loans at rates that banks don’t want to.
