Colitas, "Little Tails", or its slang, "Little Buds".
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair, warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air...
This part of the lyrics of the song "Hotel California", by the Eagles, brought on curiosity about the word, as the bigger quest for understanding the entire song itself has met with as many "ideas" as to its meaning... but...
The word "colitas" means literally, "Little Tails", thus use of the slang, "colitas", (as referenced in the song) meaning the burning of little marijuana 'tails/buds'.
Literal Meaning is "little tails"
Slang meanings as follows...
1. End buds of the marijuana plant.
2. Has been used to reference a part of the female anatomy, (use your imagination)
3. A person's butt.
Reference material for my definition was confirmed from Eagles management, as follows:
Irving Azoff a manager for the group: during the writing of the song 'Hotel California' by Messrs. Henley and Frey, the word `colitas' was translated for them by their Mexican-American road manager as 'little buds.
1. warm smell of colitas rising up through the air.
2. She has a hot colita.
3. Get your colita over here.
The word colita means literally, "Little Tail".
In the song, "Hotel California", the Eagles band is referring to, "the warm smell of Colitas rising up though the air". In this sense, the Little Tails, or tips of the marijuana plant, and of course the most potent part.
I hava also heard the term colita reference a person's butt or a woman's private parts.
Smoking the colitas!
Move your Colita.
The term used in frustration when trying to get legitimate Urban Words In To The Dictionary
I just tried to add a local Urban Slang for the word "Gee Mail", mail that's meaningless to everyone BUT the sender, BUT:
"How The Fuck Does ANYTHING Get Posted In Urban Dictionary?"
Usually an email that's of MORE INTEREST to the sender, than of the recipient.
Someone sends you an email (Gee Mail) that asks you to forward it to TEN other people or you will lose your right testicle. If you are a woman, you won't lose yours, but your boyfriend or husband will.
OR: you get an email about your friend's or family's kid making honor roll at school, prompting you to say "Gee" who gives a damn? My kid can't even spell his name!
