Sports
People didn't come up with sports as a way to battle for superiority or break records, and not everybody that has ever played or been involved in sports has done it for that reason, or has to get used to or accept people doing it for that reason. Sports are called a pastime because they are a way to enjoy passing time, nothing more, nothing less. They really are stupid fucking games, and don't indicate a whole lot about who somebody really is while not playing sports. For examle, somebody having talent at a sport isn't the same thing as somebody doing something heroic in real life. Somebody failing at a sport doesn't indicate that they are cowardly in every situation in their life. Every team that has won championships and titles has lost or not gone to the playoffs more than they've won titles when their entire team history is examined/looked at, even the teams/players that won the most or hold the most records. Holding nothing sacred but winning is silliness, not seriousness.
The kinds of people that try to get people to take sports seriously are the same kinds of people that try to get people to take the coronavirus/vaccinations/masks, or anything else they use to scare people with, seriously. People already take all the wrong things seriously and get mad about all the wrong things, which is why you have people getting shot after an NBA Finals celebration. There are things in life to get mad about certainly, but no matter who wants to get you mad about them, sports are games.

Vaccinated
Lide is worth losing, and death is worth facing, so when someone tries to speak for you by saying something like we must get vaccinated or face death, though they might not like the answer you give them, they still have it.
Nobody has to get vaccinated or get/fall in line for a vaccination because somebody on TV said they did. That's what nobody on TV will readily tell anybody, they're too busy encouraging people to do what they want them to.

Stadium
Not everybody wants a new one because a team owner does. That doesn't mean the owner should get to hold the team hostage until taxpayers meet his demands, and threaten to move the team, not when the previous owner wouldn't try it.
People seemed happy enough with the stadium that was there before the new owner showed up, he was really the one that wanted the new stadium built the most.

Post pandemic reality
Hopefully in the post pandemic reality, people remember what they forgot during the pandemic, that they never needed normalcy or hope. The dysfunctional lives most of us led before somebody tried to pause them and make them normal will return, and because most people don't think the sky is going to fall because they see a condo building collapse on the news, they won't need a celebration of hope, or a daily dose of hope to be happy. They will be happy without it, knowing they never needed it, since hope and positive/boundlessly optimistic thoughts are for weak people and cynics.
The post pandemic reality won't be a new normal, it will be the same old dysfunctional world some people have forgotten they missed. Nobody will miss what they are told the new normal is, nobody will miss the wildfire spreading, or what they are told the new world order is. The old stuff is still around.

Basketball
Something not everyone feels like watching/playing all summer long, during the most casual time of year there is. The way things were done before the pandemic, where the finals ended a month before late July was good enough, since it was good enough from the creation of the league roughly until the pandemic. There never needed to be an extra month of basketball, where a few people keep changing schedules and games until the team they want to see win finally does.
By late June, people have watched enough basketball, there's no good reason for it to continue a month longer. It doesn't create fatigue for anybody, it's aggravation at a casual time of year not meant for excessive levels of aggravation, and the aggravation is there no matter what team gets the championship. Late summer isn't basketball time because it never was.
