Second wave
The first wave sounded original, but once the media starts calling it the second, third, and fourth, they start sounding like imbeciles. No wonder there's suddenly a bunch of new mutations on the virus, since calling it the first wave still would lose the shock effect the media was originally going for.
The media will most likely have aomething new in store for the third wave, just like they did the second wave.

Explode
If someone's head did that when you stared at them, especially the head of an enemy, there would actually be something you could associate with pleasure from staring at someone.
The narcissist's head did not explode when her enemies stared at her. She had a face only a mother could love, yet she was the kind of person to think everybody else took great pleasure in staring at her because they loved her face too, with all it's wholesome qualities and innocence.

Dark horse
The dark horse was trying to throw everybody that wasn't herself off to win at any cost. None of them knew the race was already thrown.

Cynic
Someone who always has to focus on the positive things in life and never worry to keep themselves from going crazy.
The cynic always talked about the light at the end of the tunnel since the tunnel was all he/she could see. Most people are already aware that what can go wrong usually will, what's the point in making something sound bigger and better than what it really is?

Protesting
Protesting doesn't really do anything, it's always going to end up being someone other than the protestors in charge at the end of the day, and that person is always going to try and calm them. What's the point? It's a waste of everyone's time and nothing changes.
The people in charge along with everybody who is not in charge and also not part of the protests laugh at protestors. At least everybody not protesting is getting something accomplished that day, or those days (and nights).

Democracy
As seen in Myanmar, someone being barred from an office legally won't keep them from trying to seize power illegally. Someone who wants to grab power badly enough isn't going to be concerned with what is legal or illegal. There is no guarantee people will never have to fight for a democracy again as they did before there were democracies.

Normal
There is no new normal, just like there was no normal. People were a bit dysfunctional at the best of times, and that's one of the things some are trying to take from them.
No matter what the media, the WHO, scientists, healthcare officials, or the government tells people, there never was any normal to begin with, to compare a new normal to.
