Abbreviation for 'Ihsous', Greek for Jesus.

Ihs does not mean 'In his service' or 'I have suffered' or 'Iesus Hominem Salvator'. It just means 'Jesus'.

Abbreviation for Society of Jesus, a religious order founded by Ignatius of Loyola. Members are called Jesuits.
