Bulan

Bulan, coined by Reuel-Azriel, is a word that is meant to replace the negative connotations associated with the terms "Black" and "Negro."

The term "bulan" is a newly coined identity label that seeks to redefine the way people of African descent are classified. Rather than relying on terms such as "black" or "Negro," which have been shown to have negative connotations and to perpetuate stereotypes, bulan offers a more positive and inclusive alternative. While "black" is often used as a political and skin color-based category, bulan is intended to be a broader, more inclusive term that recognizes the diversity of people of African descent.

Bulan is intended to encompass people of African descent regardless of their skin color or specific country of origin. It recognizes that not all people of African descent have dark skin, and that people of African descent can come from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. Unlike "black" or "Negro," which have been used to create divisions between different groups of people, bulan is intended to bring people together under a common identity.

Bulanism

Bulanism, a racial philosophy, coined by Reuel-Azriel, is the philosophical and political stance that centers around the axiomatic identification and celebration of one's own qualities, beliefs, personality traits, appearance, and expressions of racial identity, and the active advocacy for the use of the term "Bulan" as a more empowering and accurate classification for people of sub-Saharan African ancestry and indigenous peoples of Oceania, free from the derogatory and limiting racial slurs and classifications imposed by colonial oppressors.

The core beliefs of Bulanism include the celebration of bulanness (Africanness) the promotion of cultural awareness and the advancement of social and economic justice for people of color. Bulanism is not just a movement, but a way of life that is grounded in the principles of unity, self-love, and empowerment.
"Her commitment to bulanism is evident in the way she proudly identifies herself as bulan and advocates for the recognition and celebration of the cultural contributions of sub-Saharan African and Oceania indigenous peoples."

Ethnical-Cocooning

Ethnical-Cocooning, coined by Reuel-Azriel Lé Flore, is a transformative process whereby an ethnic group breaks away from their native country and heritage, and undergoes an incubation period to emerge as a new, hybrid ethnic group. This process involves assimilating into the new host country, territory, and society, and acculturating by denouncing the ancestral homeland through deprogramming. It is a form of cultural metamorphosis, in which an ethnic group sheds its old identity and embraces a new one, while preserving aspects of their original culture.

As a theory, Ethnical-Cocooning suggests that the transformation of ethnic identity is a natural process of cultural evolution, which is driven by the forces of globalization and migration. It proposes that the hybridization of cultures, resulting from this transformation, can lead to the emergence of new and innovative cultural expressions, which can enrich and diversify society.
My family's experience of ethnical-cocooning began when we moved to a new country and had to adapt to a new culture while also trying to maintain our heritage.
