Cushion effect

When something seamingly mundane is added to a context (like a videogame), but it has a profoundly gigantic and unexpected effect that was at least partially unintended.

Origin: From how the new cushion item in Minecraft seems to have many incredible implications for survival, creative, technical and fun experiments.

Person 1: "I love how much of a cushion effect the muffins are in Hitman 3 speedruns"
Person 2: "How!? They're just muffins!"
Person 1: "Well, they have a slightly tall hitbox, short enough to be walked on, but tall enough to be used as a step to walk onto ledges and go out of bounds, breaking normal and slow routes"
