runescape

MMORPG in which the user must make his avatar perform difficult and/or borring tasks. eg. dragonslaying, mining 10,000 coal, fishing trout, ect. again and again and again. often captures the user soul with its mind captivating powers. almost as addicting as crack, heroine and acid....... put together. CBC has started running adds to warn children of the dangers of playing runescape. The surgeon general is currently formulating a warning that will be desplayed on all runescape site and parafanalia.

G and L

G&L is a guitar manufaturing company founded by George Fullerton and Leo Fender to make premium guitars and bass. It is the third guitar company created/inspired by Leo Fender, the first being Fender (duh) and the second Music Man, which was bought by Ernie Ball. These instruments are refered to as "real Fenders" in that the craftsmanship is next to none, the sounds is natural, and the playability is solid. They cost is many hundred dollars more than American Fenders, but for the most part is worth it. The lower-quality instruments are Tribute by G&L, which are made in Korea and lack the superior electronics and quality woods of G&Ls made in the U.S.

Compare a Fender Strat to a G&L Legecy or Comanche and any Fender bass to a G&L L-2000 and your mind will be blown.

at the drive-in

A band from El Paso, TX. They were highly successful in the mid-90s underground scene until the single "One Armed Scissor" was released and played quite frequently on MTV in the late 90s. But even during their popularity on MTV, they still stuck to their roots, playing with the same energy as they did when they were still underground and not conforming to the stereotypical MTV egocentric band. They eventually broke up in 2001, but the reason why is still in debate. Some say it's because they didn't want to become mainstream, some say it was artistic differences, and some say it's a mix of the two. Either way, their break up formed two different bands: Sparta, which is similar to At the Drive-In, but not as energetic in my opinion, and The Mars Volta, which is quite different from At the Drive-In and the main reason to support the "artistic differences" reason for the break up.

Damn, I wish I'd seen At the Drive-In live when I had the chance.

Fieldy

The bassist for the band Korn. Despite what most of the definitions on this site say, he's not that talented of a bassist. Just look up the Korn bass tabs online and you'll notice they're pretty basic. His style of playing involves down tuning the strings 2 or 3 half-steps and doing mediocre slapping and overly-hard finger picking to get the "rattling sound." Plus, he's got so many effects running through that if he just turned them all off his sound would sound similar to a dieing squirrel being hit with a crowbar.

Compare Fieldy to Flea, Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Geddy Lee, Billy Sheehan, Marcus Miller, or any other bassist and then make an opinion on the man.
