some hip-hop guys... they got some pretty nice tracks, like 'a day at the races', thats my favorite one. but of course, its the only track of theirs that i've heard so of course it's my favorite.

one of the most wanted sounds in electronic music, rivaling the tr-808, tr-909 and several moog synths. It was supposed to sound like a real bass guitar, which it totally sucked at. so roland, the manufacturer, stopped making them pretty quickly, so they're kinda rare. after that, house Djs in the 80's started messing around with them (Dj peirre?) and found that you could make some pretty wild sounds with them. 303s eventually came to form their own style of music Acid, where the 303 is in basically every song, or at least another synth trying to sound like a 303.
the 303 is actually a very simple synth, considering it only has one oscillator, only two waveform options (saw, square) and a (wicked) lowpass filter. so basically the filter is the best thing about it. it also has a built in sequencer, which allows you to program your bassline into it, then hit play and tweak the filter while it plays, making a freaking awesome sound! people also put effects on it, like phasor, distortion, and delay.

shorthand/abbreviation for the Roland TB-303 Bassline Synthesizer. Probably the most sought after synthesizer ever, except for maybe the 909. The machine is responsible for an entire genre of electronic music known as Acid (AKA acid house, acid techno).
At first glance, the synth looks less than mediocre. They're small, and usually they aren't in great condition because theyre so old (1982-1983). It was originally designed to sound like an actual bass guitar and replace a bass player in a band, but it didn't really do that too well. The sequencer is a pain to program, and you'd be wasting the rest of the possible sound spectrum if you wanted it to just sound like a bass guitar.
It became popular by using the accent function on certain notes, and tweaking the filter and the accent knob while it plays, creating really squelchy and random sounding effects.
Nowadays, their price can range from around $800 to $1500. There are emulators and clones, but purists say that only a 303 is a 303.

If you own a TB-303 and you aren't into Acid (the music of course) then you have two options. No, you can's use it as a paperweight, although if it is broken you can do that. (who wouldn't want a paperweight that says "computer controlled" on it?)
1. Get yourself a drum machine (909) and start making acid music.

The T-Virus is a genetically engineered version of the Ebola virus. The Ebola virus kills 90% of its victims however it is inefficient as it kills its victim before it can be transfered to another.
Modification of the Ebola virus with a "founder virus" resulted in the T-virus. It left humans with the ability to move around and infect other people with the virus. It also has mutagenic properties due to the ebola gene being an RNA gene and the "founder virus" being an RNA Virus.
