This was said by an old man acting as Clyde Barrow's father in the movie "The Highwaymen". I suspect that it means something like proceeding in yet another direction.
After working on the roof of my home I descended the ladder and mowed the lawn which was essentially one turn on the trail.

Verbally accosted someone or loudly proclaimed a position.
He got up on my grill and strongly defended his position.
