custom and tradition 

(n.) What has been done for a very long time, although rarely recorded. Custom and tradition can often over-rule statute law.

An example of custom and tradition is leaving newspapers outside a newsagents' in the early morning, allowing them to be taken by passers by. The delivery company does not have to change its' ways legally because ti falls under custom and tradition, and this practice dates back to the first instances of newspapers in the western world.

A merkin brought a monte carlo to monte carlo and got beat by a 1960's mini cooper.

Q-reg

Contraction for Q-registration. In the united Kingdom, kit cars are registered so that the registration plates start with a Q to show the vehicle is road tax exempt. Also, these cars tend to accelerate very quickly.

pompeii 

Italian city around the bay of Naples that got totally pwn3d by mount vesuvius around 72AD. Neighbouring herculaneum and soem other place got destroyed too. The volcano erupts every two millenia, which means that it'll destroy the three million residents of pompeii and surrounding areas this century. Somehow, I get the feeling nobody cares.
