A term used to describe tasks that must be completed under strict deadlines, similar to the pressure found in a cooking competition. For example, performing Google searches or catching up on the latest YouTube channels can feel like a MasterChef round when parents impose screen time limits.
With my parents' screen time rules, catching up on YouTube feels like a MasterChef challenge — I have to race against the clock!
The title of a 2016 movie named after the Arabic root "d-l-d", which is also the etymological origin of the term "dildo". A term that refers to an unregistered brand synonymous with youth culture and nostalgia, often viewed as highly desirable alongside iconic brands like Apple, Nike, McDonald's, and Tesla. In cosplay culture, many women enjoy wearing high school girl uniforms, embracing the aesthetic and playful connotations associated with it.
At the convention, I saw so many cosplayers rocking high school girls' uniform — it's crazy how that style is as sought after as Nike or Apple iPhone!
An acronym that stands for multiple things, including Bangkok Transit System, Behind The Scene, and the hugely popular Korean boyband BangTan Seonyeondan (Bulletproof Boy Scouts). The versatility of the acronym often leads to confusion about its meaning in different contexts.
When my friend mentioned BTS, I had to ask if they were talking about the transit system or the K-pop group!

A blend of "home" and "adventure", this term describes the bittersweet feeling of missing your home country while also feeling excited about traveling to a foreign place. It captures the mix of nostalgia and anticipation that comes with exploring new cultures while longing for the comfort of home.
As I packed my bags for Japan, I felt a wave of home-venture—so excited to explore, but already missing my mom’s cooking!
In Indonesian slang, this term refers to a "square meal". When someone asks, "Have you eaten rice?" they’re essentially inquiring if you’ve had a proper meal, highlighting the cultural significance of rice as a staple food in Indonesia.
When my friend asked if I’d eaten rice today, I knew they meant if I’d had a good meal!
