A term for a highly evolved instinct, like that of a rabbit who seems to be able to sense the slightest shifts which could mean danger.

fartsounds

The dulcet tones of a long-term marriage.
Early on in our relationship I would always hear his heartsounds, but now it’s round-the-clock fartsounds!

Upper United States

A refined 1950s person’s way of saying “Up your ass!” without anyone really understanding it.
My petite blonde bombshell mother would put her hands on her hips in that challenging but white bread snooty manner of hers and confidently state to someone who had pissed her off, “Upper United States, buddy!” and of course she’d already taught me the subtle secret decoding of this cryptic insult which was to just imagine she was saying this in a lame American’s idea of an Italian accent and the United States is really U-S, as in “uppa you ess!”

live by the gun, die by the gun

A phrase to describe the truism that you increase the probability of dying violently when you choose to live a life of violence.
It was never lost on me that you must consider the wisdom of “live by the gun, die by the gun,” when choosing to own or carry a firearm.

Rabbitworld

A fantastical and idyllic place in our minds where we can go as we endure the last leg of this nightmare Trumpian marathon.
I close my eyes and conjure Rabbitworld as I mute the nightly TV news and run swiftly with the rabbits across a sunlit meadow encircled by lush oak trees.

Oh Shit Syndrome

A psychological disorder, driven by deep-seated guilt, whereas a person believes they are doing everything wrong and constantly making mistakes.
I’ve been suffering with Oh Shit Syndrome since I was about four or five.

Make Bunnies Not War

A phrase to replace the Vietnam era anti-war slogan, “Make Love Not War,” to be used to disarm angry, aggressive people.
If someone tries to ruin my happiness, I just smile softly and gently say, “Make Bunnies Not War!”
