John Galt

The hero of the philosophical epic, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. John Galt is the perfectly integrated human being who understands the role of man's mind in existence, and acts upon it. It is he who initiates the strike against the secondhanders and saves the world from unreason.

Related terms include the often-asked question Who is John Galt? and going Galt.
"Who is John Galt? This is John Galt speaking. I am the man who loves his life. I am the man who does not sacrifice his love or his values. I am the man who has deprived you of victims and thus has destroyed your world."

South Side

prop. n. A renowned historic neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, located across the Monongahela River from Downtown. The location of many famous bars, restaurants, theaters, and tattoo parlors. Originally a working-class neighborhood, the South Side became up-and-coming after the major steel mills closed in the 1980s.

The South Side, being a large area, is sometimes divided into the "South Side Flats" (near the river) and the "South Side Slopes". It is not to be confused with the "South Shore", which refers to all shoreline neighborhoods south of the Mon, or the South Hills.
Bob took his new girlfriend out to the South Side for some bar-hopping.

Jefferson Hills

prop. n. A neighborhood in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Inhabited by gods of life, the most beautiful women, and geniuses. Despite this, there is nothing to do. Its high school also fails to reflect the near-divinity of the population.

Also known as "Thomas Jefferson" or "T.J."
L'Maison Eternelle and the Kingdom are two famous houses in the Jefferson Hills.

Wilkinsburg

pron. n.; "We'll-kill-yins-burg"; a city in Pennsylvania, immediately outside of Pittsburgh's city limits. Known for being dangerously crime-infested. Has been repeatedly denied union with the City of Pittsburgh because of its awful reputation. Also has terrible public schools.
"I rode my bike through Wilkinsburg at noon and I thought I was gonna get mugged."

prop. n.; University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, in reality a gigantic corporation almost completely unrelated to said University. Although its Pittsburgh-based chain of hospitals (usually) provides world-class care, UPMC is notorious for opposing competition, free-market capitalism, and above-minimum wage for its employees.
UPMC bought out the small-time Catholic hospital, tore down the historic building, and built a luxury office for its President in its stead.

prop. n.; a lake in Hungary. Usually referred to as "the crown jewel of Europe". Tourists from around the world flock to the shores of the Balaton in order to enjoy fine wine, fine eats, and fine women. The single most relaxing location in the visible universe.
Guido took his family to the French Riviera, only to regret it terribly and wish he had gone to the Balaton instead.
