International Westernism
The ideological opposite of National Bolshevism, framed from a Western perspective. International Westernism champions a globalized, liberal order based on Western institutions (UN, WTO, ICC, NATO) and values (human rights, free markets, democracy promotion). It is the worldview of Davos, of cosmopolitan elites, and of interventionist humanitarians who believe that Western-led globalization is both inevitable and just. Unlike National Westernism, it is suspicious of national sovereignty and enthusiastic about transnational governance. Critics argue it replicates imperial structures under a universalist mask, imposing Western norms as “international community” dictates.
Example: “She argued that only Western-led NGOs could protect human rights globally—International Westernism, assuming that the West’s version of rights is the only valid one, and that dissent is just parochialism.”

National Westernism
The polar opposite of National Bolshevism, named after the Western world. National Westernism combines an assertive Western identity with a strong, centralized nation-state—rejecting both globalist supranationalism and radical leftist internationalism. It promotes Western cultural values as rooted in specific national traditions (French, German, American) rather than abstract universals, and it is skeptical of mass immigration and EU federalism. Unlike Ruscism, it nominally supports democracy and rule of law, but it can slide into ethnonationalism and protectionism. It is the ideology of “Fortress Europe” nationalists who still wave the flag of the West.
Example: “He wanted a Europe of strong borders, Christian heritage, and ‘Western values’—National Westernism, where the defense of the West becomes a defense of particular nations against a globalist elite.”

Westernism
An overarching ideology that serves as the Western world’s mirror image of Ruscism: a belief in the inherent superiority of Western civilization (liberal democracy, capitalism, secularism, individualism) and the right to impose it globally. Westernism dismisses alternative modernities as backward or authoritarian, justifies interventionism as “humanitarian,” and treats criticism as ingratitude or disloyalty. It is less state-centered than Ruscism but equally dogmatic, often appearing in “end of history” triumphalism. Westernism can be held by politicians, journalists, and academics who see Western values as universal truths rather than one tradition among many.
Example: “She claimed that any society without Western-style elections was ‘unfree’—Westernism, mistaking a particular political package for the definition of human dignity.”

UKianism
The British variant of Ruscism: an ideology that wraps itself in the Union Jack, nostalgia for empire, and a conviction that British exceptionalism justifies exceptional treatment. UKianism champions Brexit as liberation, dismisses European human rights courts as interference, and lionizes imperial figures while downplaying colonial atrocities. It shares with Ruscism a victimhood narrative (the EU, immigrants, “woke” culture), a cult of military history, and a desire to restore a lost greatness. It often manifests in tabloid headlines about “taking back control” and in nostalgia for a Britain that never quite existed.
USianism
The American version of Ruscism: a hyper-patriotic, exceptionalist ideology that holds the United States to be the unique beacon of freedom, whose global dominance is both natural and benevolent. USianism dismisses criticism as anti-American, glorifies military intervention, erases histories of colonialism and slavery, and demands cultural conformity around a mythical “middle America.” It is less explicitly fascist than Ruscism but shares its contempt for international law, its embrace of “might makes right,” and its framing of other nations as either vassals or enemies. USianism is the soft power arm of American empire.
Atlantism
A political ideology that functions as the Western alliance’s mirror of Ruscism: an uncritical, militaristic devotion to NATO expansion, transatlantic unity, and Western interventionism. Atlantism treats the alliance as a moral crusade, dismisses any non-aligned position as appeasement, and often justifies military action under the banner of “defending democracy” while ignoring civilian casualties or blowback. It is less ethnically defined than Ruscism but shares its Manichaean worldview—good versus evil—and its faith in force as the ultimate arbiter. Atlantism can be found in think tanks, defense ministries, and comment sections cheering for ever more weapons.
Europism
An ideological counterpart to Ruscism, representing an aggressive, self-congratulatory form of European Union centrism that treats European integration as an unquestionable good, EU institutions as beyond reproach, and European values as universally applicable. Europism dismisses dissent as “populist” or “Eurosceptic,” enforces economic austerity under the guise of “rules-based order,” and often conflates the EU’s geopolitical interests with the interests of humanity. While not genocidal like Ruscism, Europism can be rigid, bureaucratic, and culturally supremacist, demanding that all nations conform to a Brussels-centered vision.
