Doting-blind

Describes someone who is genuinely sincere and present when a partner or loved one expresses joy, excitement, or affection — but reflexively treats their negative emotions (anger, sadness, frustration) as "cute" or endearing instead of taking them seriously. Not intentionally dismissive; the fondness itself gets in the way of recognizing real distress.
I told him I was actually mad and he just smiled and said I looked adorable when I was fired up — classic doting-blind.

She's not a bad partner, she's just doting-blind. Good news gets full attention, bad news gets a head pat.

You can't be doting-blind forever — at some point 'you're so cute when you're upset' stops being sweet and starts being annoying.

My mom is doting-blind with my little brother. She'll celebrate every tiny win with him, but when he's genuinely upset, she just coos at him like he's a puppy.
