The process of exterimninating the middle class and poor residents of a city due to high inflated real estate prices that will bring along wealthy yuppies into neighborhoods that were once blue collar middle collar class.

Real estate developers advertise certain neighborhoods as "trendy" in hopoe to bring in yuppies and drive out long time residents.

"My neighborhood is going through generification, all the the apartments are being made into luxury condominiums for the fuckin yuppies"

sobo

short for South Boston aka southie MA, a hood in boston. No one in boston and southie calls it sobo. This is a term coined by realtors to make southie sound trendy like the back by or south end. This term is harshly rejected by long time southie residents who know its a gimmick to lure in rich yuppie bastards.

Yuppie- "I'm moving to Sobo where I will buy a condo for $500,000so I will be closer to my cube downtown"

Southie Guy- "Are ya Fackin retaded its called southie, not sobo you yuppie bastard,move back to vermont"

Suburbanite

A person who does not live inside the city limits of Boston, Mass. Many of them grew up in the suburbs or lived in the city until they were five then moved to the North or south shore or some bumfuck town out on the pike. If you do not live in Southie, Mattapan, Roslindale, Westie, Eastie, Charlestown,Downtown, Dorchester, JP, Hyde Park, the North End, Roxbury etc, you are a not from Boston and therefore should stop saying you are from boston. Many suburbanites come to Boston on the weekend with their Red Sox hat and walk around like their the shit and act like they are from the city. They fail to realize that there are other parts of the city. People in the neighborhoods like Dot and Southie say we are from southie and Dot not Boston. Many native bostonians despise these outsiders and fakes with a passion. Suburbanites don't have the right to say they are from boston: they dont put up with the crime, shootings, high taxes, dirty streets, lack of parking spaces, increasing yuppies, traffic, homeless people etc.

Me- "Hey where ya from"
Suburbanite- "I'm from Boston"
Me- "What part"
Suburbanite- "I live in Wellsley"
Me- " Oh your one of those ignorant rich suburbanites who acts like they are from the city huh, please drop the act and kill yourself"
