When researching a topic online, on a website such as Wikipedia, "Tabbing" is the act of opening multiple links in new browser tabs, subsequently leading you astray from your original topic but simultaneously introducing you to new ones.

When you have an outline task when searching on the internet e.g. finding a rare item on shopping websites for such a long time that you have opened up a series of tabs to attempt to achieve this goal. The word is used in place of stating a URL when asked what you are doing on the internet
Person 1: Hey man, you've been on the computer for 6 days now, what are you on?
Person 2: I'm just tabbing for a new swimming pool filtration system.
Person 1: that's great, but seriously, take a shower...
