the pool effect

Where someone is talking about a topic, and another person slowly slides their way into the conversation, but doesn't jump in fully, eventually full sending and jumping in, kind of like how some people hesitate to fully enter a pool.

I've recently learned about the pool effect, and I think it relates to me.
