1. Certain special people, who watch over the rest of the people. The rest are called sheep. Sheepdogs prevent the 'wolves' or bad people/things from hurting the sheep. Sheepdogs understand violence is sometimes necessary in order to protect the sheep. The sheep really don't like the sheepdog. Sheep prefer to go along their merry way, oblivious to the perils of life. Sheep tolerate sheepdogs' existance in order to keep the wolves away.

1. Police, soldiers, firefighters. A Sheepdog protects sheep from wolves.

Sheepdog 

(n) a person that accompanies his friends to a party and tries to consolidate them, keep them out of trouble, holds back girls' hair while they puke, and makes sure they get home safely. Sheepdogs are not necessarily sober, but are distinguished by their genuine concern for their friends, never taking advantage of a girl when she is wasted or leaving.

1. A person who positions themselves as the “protector” or ally of victims in order to dodge suspicion, scrutiny, or collective blame for the very problem they benefit from or contribute to.
• They loudly decry or “call out” a bad actor or group (e.g., online predators, corrupt officials, toxic workplace culture) not because they genuinely care about the victims, but because it shields them from being lumped in with the accused.
• The performance of sympathy acts like camouflage: by barking at the wolves, the sheepdog convinces the flock that they’re trustworthy—even when their motives are questionable.
2. A rhetorical deflection technique where someone takes a “hero stance” against a hated issue to shift attention away from their own involvement, complicity, or association with it.

sheepdog high 

The stage of an "under-the-influence" experience where one wanders in aimless circles for any given period of time, particularly around an object such as a couch or a table. This sort of perpetual, stoned circling looks much like a sheepdog's constant walk around a herd of animals. One who is affected by a sheepdog high is often too lost in thought (or dopamine) to notice their behavior, and therefore it continues until someone points out how weird they look or until the individual realizes it on their own.

The byproduct of two gay gym rats coupling in the shower at your local workout club.

We all know the overly-helpful, underdressed, bicep-kissing gym rat that is constantly trying to give unsolicited advice; jumps in to spot when not needed; and is always touching inappropriately. He claims that he is the “sheepdog” of the gym, taking care of the lesser members. Well...he is gay...and is looking to pick up a lover to eventually take into the shower for a Sheepdog Smoothie.
