When Jeph's jersey was hanging over his shorts he looked like he he had a nightgown on. He was actively nightgowning.

When one wakes too early in the morning, in which it is still dark outside.

Gabriel woke up at 4:00 A.M. Therefore he was late, because he still thought it was nighttime. This is when nightmorning can confuse someone while they are sleeping.
