Local Harrogate slang for terraced houses, generally in reference to the houses between Prospect Lane and Stonefall Mews. The term is in reference to how hotel owners hired large amounts of people from Hartlepool to work in the hotels, and those houses were built to accommodate for them, and how people from Hartlepool are referred to as Monkey Hangers.

This implies their fortune wasn't due to their charm, but rather their hefty beer goggles or lack of self-respect/taste.
