middleistic

Have you ever made some kind of debatable remark, but then someone claims you're being too pessimistic? Worse yet, someone else might think that you're being too optimistic, and then a third guy rambles on about how you're "too much of a darned realist, and you should always look on the bright side of things".

Well, the word "middleistic" can be used to describe those statements where the intent is neither optimistic, nor pessimistic, and neither realistic. It's a potent mixture of those three traits, often blending accuracy and delusion together. In short, a middleistic sentence (or feeling) is neither right, definitely not wrong, but not really that practical, either.
Well, I think you're being middleistic about next year's election. Placing your bets on the NDP party to win the majority could happen, but the Conservatives stand a much better chance!
