Mento is the folk music of Jamaica in the 50's.
Mento is a kind of Jamaican calypso, for the tourist that visited Jamaica, and you can still today find bands on hotels in Jamaica that plays mento. You can also find mento cd's and LP's. Mento is the music that became Ska and ska became reggae, (and so on), so it's pretty relevant, really.
Mento musicians: Calypsonians, Lord Fly & Dan Wiliams Orchestra, Richardson, Harold & The Ticklers, Porter, Hubert & George Moxey Quintet and Baba Motta
