A freethinker, a maverick.
Short for individualist. An ind learns to define success for oneself, and never lets fads, movements, ideologies, or entertainment dictate their
happiness. They tend to minimalists too, as every frivolous item or preoccupation has the tendency to derail them from being in tune with themselves. They are very intentional about everything. Inds care about what's important and meaningful, not what's new or popular. Inds do not go with the
flow—not because they seek to be different or spite the status quo, but because what most
people care about, do, and think are not valuable. In this sense, an ind's lifestyle and perspective can nothing but render him different.
Jonas had the
air of an ind. He seemed to have perspective; well-read and humble, never jumping to conclusions, but rather engaging in slow, methodical thought. He was unlike anyone I've
ever known.
