An awesome band from Sweden founded in the early 90's. They are famous for their legendary riffs and songs so catchy it is not tiring to listen to after a couple of re-runs.
However at the dawn of Reroute to Remain, they started sounding mainstream. I don't know why they'd done it (probably to attract a larger crowd aside from their current fanbase), but they still got their own harmonious riffs, just not as good from way back.

In Flames is, 100%, the best band in the history of the world. People who don't like In Flames obviously haven't sat down and actually listened to the sheer brilliance of their music.
The band consists of Anders Fridén (Lead Vocals), Björn Gelotte (Guitar), Daniel Svensson (Drums), Jesper Strömblad (Guitar), and Peter Iwers (Bass). The band was formed by Jesper in 1990.
Those who say that their newer albums 'Reroute to Remain' and 'Soundtrack to Your Escape' aren't as good as their older albums are wrong. These albums have some of the most well written songs in the history of music, and just because the guitar doesn't stand out as much as in their earlier albums doesn't mean that the songs are shit.
Their newest album, 'Come Clarity', absolutely shits on the statement that they are becoming mainstream and falling into the genre of 'Nu-Metal'. Come clarity easily decimates their earlier albums.
Albums include: Lunar Strain, Subterranean, The Jester Race, Black Ash Inheritance, Whoracle, Colony, Clayman, Tokyo Showdown (Live), Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack To Your Escape, and Come Clarity.
Best Tracks: Coerced Coexistence, Crawl Through Knives, Trigger, My Sweet Shadow, Stand Ablaze, Artifacts of the Black Rain, Dead Eternity, Jotun, Episode 666... fuck it, all 110 songs are good.
In Flames has revolutionised melodic death metal, and should rightfully go down as one of the best bands ever.

i dont care what any of you other fuckers think, in flames is simply put the best band that has ever (and ever will) exist. theres some bands that almost measure up to them, such as pantera, and ozzy osbourne, and cradle of filth, but in flames absolutely pzwn5 them all.
Originated in '92 in Gothenburg, Sweden, this melo-death quad have created and are still creating some of the best sounds out there, and anyone listening to children of bodom, slayer, immortal, should check them out... because they are amazing... specifically the song cloud connected... and trigger... anndd dawn of a new day... and there are too many more. simply put, in flames own all.

Gods of metal, still. Though they maye have lost a little inertia with StYE and maybe Reroute, this doesn't undermine all the work they had done so far, and Come Clarity is a very good sign of their comeback. Their melodic richness and style are unmatched. Groups like Opeth that have no musical systematic, whose songs are composed of random irrelevant melodies, and whose vocals are not vocals but rather are groanings are not even slightly comparable to In Flames.

Definitely a kick ass band. Also, one of the best melodic death metal bands out there. If you like this band, listen to Children Of Bodom and you will change your mind that In Flames is the best band ever
