An individual whose command of the English language, or lack thereof, is so thoroughly challenged that he or she has a propensity for mangling words consisting of greater than one syllable, sometimes but not always in a conscious attempt to appear far more intelligent than he or she really is. A contraction of the words "erudite" and "dunce."
When George W. Bush claimed that they "misunderestimated me," he gave himself away as an erudunce.

When the late Mayor Richard J. Daley of Chicago claimed that "The police are not there to create disorder...The police are there to preserve disorder," he proved himself to be an erudunce.
