encephalization quotient

Also known as "brain-to-body mass ratio", this term commonly abbreviated as EQ refers to the ratio between the actual or measured brain size of a species to the size predicted in reference to its body mass. Please note that modern humans (Homo sapiens) have an EQ between 6 and 7, meaning that our brain mass is typically 6 times greater than that of a typical mammal.
Did you know that humans have an EQ (encephalization quotient) of 6 to 7? That means our brains are way bigger than what you’d expect for our body size, which helps explain why we’re so good at thinking outside the box.
