When you had a shitty childhood due to one parent being either absent, abusive, or stupid. However when you turn 18 you separate yourself from that parent and claim a step-parent as your new true parent.

A man who is clearly Epic and without his existence mankind would completely lose equilibrium and homeostasis for all things living would simply stop, halt, and die out in a nuclear failure.
