A partner whose preferred pronouns are they/them, thus the terms "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" are inappropriate.

Theyfriend

Much like boyfriend or girlfriend, "theyfriend" is a gender neutral term that can be used for your genderfluid/agender/etc significant other that uses neutral pronouns.

"I'm going to see my theyfriend today! I love them so much~"

Toyfriend

Toyfriends are more than fuck buddies, but less than boyfriends. They care for each other, they can be very affectionate and intimate and socialise openly besides just having sex, but both of them are free to see other people and discuss that openly with each other. There is no nuance of age or domination in the term toyfriend, as there is in toyboy.

My toyfriend Simon called me the other day to tell me about some bad sex he had after a date. I told him I'd make up for it on Sunday after going with him to the cinema and that I had missed him.

Therafriend

A therafriend is a friend who acts as your therapist - both truly listening and also truly offering pointed and objective advice when you need it. You speak to your therafriend often and they are up to date on your relationships, family dynamics and work situation.

I spoke to my therafriend at length about her and the conclusion was that it simply isn't going to work out.
