Down Under/ Southern Hemisphere VERSION!
In the southern hempisphere, mainly Australia and NewZealand, skin heads are most commonly die hard Ford or Holden fans. They are aggressive in nature, hang out in pubs with 'hard' men that know how to drink, usally are found wearing tattered jeans and singlets and all drive early model Fords or Holdens because they are very cheap rusting cars with large and loud engines. Not all skin heads have to be bald to qualify, a very very short haircut will still qualify as long as it's aggressive. If a skin head starts driving a modern Ford or Holden (agressively), and/or grows a full head of hair, he looses his skin head classification and migrates to any of the following definitions; 'Hoon', 'idiot', 'prick', 'theif' and more.
This is a rare occurance though, as skin heads aren't made of money and would not usually be able to afford a modern Ford or Holden, in which case if you did see a skin head driving a modern Ford or Holden, it is most likely stolen, and you may hear sirens and/or flashing lights following closely behind.
Skin heads are also commonly found tailgating others to the point of contact regardless of whether the driver in front is doing the speed limit or more.

The driver appears to be a 38-42 year old angry looking male, bald, wearing a 'nelmac' or 'sollys' singlet and angrily staring you down through your rear vision mirror (as if you weren't going fast enough), just bursting at the seams for a chance to overtake you at three times the nescessary speed. As soon as the road straightens out of course the skin head explodes past, engine roaring*

Skinheads first started to appear durring the late 60's in England. Skinheads were an off shoot to the mods and football(soccer)holligans called "boot boys". they took great pride in their dress and a proper skinhead could be seen wearing a button down brutus, ben sherman or any proper shirt. braces(suspenders, not the fat hillbilly grandpa kind but thin)a levi jacket or an american flight jacket. levi staprest trousers, blue jeans and sometimes cammo pants, allthough the combat trousers were not worn until the revival and the comming of punk rock.Fred Perry polo shirts are also very popular with skinheads as are V neck sweaters and vests. music listened to by skinheads from the 60's to 70's could consist of reggae, ska, soul, glam such as slade, mott the hoople, small faces. With the punk scene in the 70's came a rebirth of the skins allthough this time the look was exageated a bit, boots were higher and bleached jeans and combat fatigues could be seen worn by the new breed. During this time a right wing political group known as the National Front (NF)started using skinheads as pawns (polititians both right and left have tried using the scene for their own gain). there were many punk bands that were being followed by the skins, notably bad manners (ska) sham 69, Skrewdriver( before the nazi days)angelic upstarts.Shortly a new breed of punk music was born thanks to bands like the cockney rejects, this music was called "OI!", notable oi! bands are; the 4skins, last resort, snix, early skrewdriver, red alert. Skinheads reached America at the end of the 70's/early 80's and there has always been a close connection between the american skin and the hardcore scene. bands such as Agnostic front, Cro mags, murphy's law and warzone all had members who were skins or friends with skins. Today there seems to be a new trend of extreme left wing skins, redskins, communist,socialist,anarchist, who seem to be being used by politics yet again, most however grow up and realize extremist politics are a no win game. Not all skinheads are racist but some definately are. On the west coast (USA)many skins grow up being somewhat influenced by the chicano gang culture (cholo)it is not uncommon to see skins looking a bit more like cholos, after all skinheads have always been a gang subculture.

skinheads are NOT NAZIS!!!! naziskins are called boneheads. skinheads are people who take pride in their working class heritage and often listen to oi, reggae, or ska. The Skinhead culture began in Jamaica, and was very closely tied to the Rude Boy culture. Some of the original Rude boys were also considered the original Skinheads.

Skin Heads have not nor never have linked themselves to racism, the media do that for them! To me growing up in small mining comunity in northern england in the late 60's early 70's being a skinhead had nowt nothing to do with being trendy or fashionable or violent or looking cool it was all about the music...reggae and ska!....and feeling like we all belonged together like a brotherhood...PLEASE WATCH THE MOVIE ''THIS IS ENGLAND!'' ALL WILL COME CLEAR.
