midrange scoop

Also mid scoop. An equalizer setting used for electric amplified instruments. The midrange frequencies are cut off/scooped out. Used to make the sound fatter, especially for bass slapping and hard overdriven guitar riffing.

You can get an awesome heavy metal sound with a high amount of distorsion and a midrange scoop.

A scoop shot from midrange. Basically a really long, two-handed finger roll. Which is probably not the best thing to attempt in traffic.

George Gervin liked to finger roll one-handed from midrange, but the midrange scoop was a staple of Earl Monroe's game.
