Gender Envy

A term that people who fall under the transgender umbrella or label use when they feel envious of someone's appearance. Usually, how they present (masculine, feminine, androgynous.) The reason why some transgender people may feel gender envy for something ambiguous or even somebody is like stated before, how it may be presented to them and/or other people.

Please don't bash people who feel gender envy towards certain things or people simply because you don't understand the feeling yourself.

Person 1: I don't get how you can feel gender envy cause of clothing?
Person 2: I just think it looks androgynous, and I wish I could seem androgynous too.

a feeling of envy for how someone else presents/expresses their gender identity. this term is primarily one used by trans people who have envy of the presentation of same-gendered cis people.

Tommy(FTM): I have such strong gender envy for Keanu Reeves
Lyla(MTF): Understandable. Natasha Lyonne causes me extreme gender envy.
Carly(Cis): Fair! I experience gender envy whenever I see Zendaya.

Sometimes shortened to gender, gender envy is used by trans people to describe a way/feeling they'd like to look like/"take the gender of".

Ex: That man is giving me gender envy, I want to look like him. This photo is very gender.
