Fake Gesture Trap

A manipulative tactic where someone retroactively claims they had planned a generous or thoughtful act but blames the other person's behavior for "ruining" it. This fabricated scenario is used as a trap to evoke guilt, regret, or compliance, even though the supposed gesture was never genuinely intended.

After our disagreement, he set up a fake gesture trap, saying he was about to propose to me but decided not to because I upset him.
