When something just makes you stop and go "oh god".
If somebody you know says something cringy around you, you'll be embarrassed for them.
When it's just socially unacceptable.
A cringy comment just makes you feel awkward.

Everybody is talking about what they got last year for their bday and your friend blurts out "I got a lot of money, like a LOT of money." Somebody else, "Who cares?" Them, " It would make you look poor because I have a lot of money."

Cringy means "to bring a foul distaste to your palette". You know something is cringy when it makes you want to squirm and drink bleach. Cringe-worthy Things that are cringy include: this definition for cringy, Tik-Tok, kids doing random Fortnite dances, etc. All of the above listed items are sure to bring a foul and quite repulsive distaste to your palette.

Kid 1- Omg have you seen the new Fortnite dance?! (Starts doing 'the hype')
Kid 2- OMG YASSSS SLAYYY ALL DAYYYY (joins in)
Older and wiser sibling of the kids- Stop please, you're so cringy . You basically burned my eyeballs off.
